Earth Day

Throughout Raffi’s career, he has sung of our love for Nature and its importance in our lives. “Respecting Earth & Child” is the Centre For Child Honouring’s motto. Several Raffi songs, both old and new, celebrate our planet and the wonders of being alive.

To help celebrate Earth Day, here are a number of resources —songs, lyrics, videos, links—for teachers, students, and parents. For everyone!

Green Dream Lyrics

Raffi's song "COOL IT" is a musical call-to-action on Climate Change, urging the global community to come together to reduce CO2 emissions. It is also a toe-tapping rockabilly tune on global warming—the most pressing issue of the day, and perhaps our lifetimes.

The Earth Charter is a declaration of interdependence that came into being through a process of consultation that involved thousands of people in 78 countries, over the course of ten years.

We are at a critical moment

  • A time when we must choose our future
  • A time to join together to bring forth a sustainable global society
  • A time to declare our responsibility to one another

“The Earth Charter challenges us to examine our values and choose a better way. It calls on us to search for common ground in the midst of our diversity and to embrace a new ethical vision.”

Where We All Belong
Inspired by the Earth Charter, Raffi has written a song to listen to and sing wherever people gather to celebrate life. Both versions of Where We All Belong — chant and ballad — are about Earth as an abundant home, “a circle where we all belong.” They express the Swahili sentiment “tunza” — to treat with care and affection. Tunza is also the name of the youth and children’s strategy of the United Nation’s Environment Programme (UNEP).
